Top Paddock will be the headline event that kicks off the Tussock Country Music Festival, delivering a dynamic line-up of national country music stars.

SOUTHBOUND XO

Described by Triple M County as "AUS-Country's Hottest Supergroup," Southbound xo are the all-female country/rock band featuring co-lead vocalist Missy Lancaster, co-lead vocalist and bass player Sarah Bernardo and electric guitarist Andrea Krakovska.

 

Their live show is high-energy from start to finish. Put simply.... the party is never boring when Southbound xo are in town! Southbound xo’s single ‘This Is Us’ topped the national country airplay charts in Australia for a massive three weeks. It was the follow-up to their first national #1 Country airplay single ‘Find Our Way,’ which also topped the AIR Independent singles chart and has been streamed across the globe over 3 million times. In fact, Southbound xo have been the most exciting new female act in Australian country music in the last couple of years, scoring FIVE top 10 singles and over 8 million streams of their music.

 

The girls recently released their first international collaboration 'Buy You A Drink,' with multi-award winning Canadian country star Tim Hicks and the USA's most streamed fully independent country act, Austin Burke. Along with the release of additional hit single songs such as ‘Drink,’ ‘Composure’ and ‘Bar High’ Southbound xo were finally able to unleash their big live show post-pandemic in 2022, at major events such CMC Rocks QLD, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Tumbafest and Savannah In The Round. Another impressive festival schedule is in the pipeline in 2023 including Bayleys Tussock Country in May!

KEITH PEREIRA

Keith Pereira is a country singer, songwriter and guitarist making a mark on the NZ country music scene. Keith's rich country voice, high energy performances and guitar style, blend a uniquely 90's country sound with a modern twist strongly influenced by his idols: Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill and The Eagles.


Since the start of 2018, Keith has performed all across NZ at numerous festivals and concerts ranging from Music In Parks to NZ's largest country music festival: Top Paddock. 


His solo performances and collaborations with notable country singers on YouTube have also drawn local and international attention resulting in: multiple sold out shows in Auckland with his band the Trail Benders; a sold out concert in Vancouver (Canada); shows in Calgary and Toronto (Canada); and being invited to perform at a festival in Mumbai (India). Keith has also appeared on a number of TV shows including TV One’s Breakfast and has worked as a session country guitarist / singer for shows including Dancing with the Stars.

ARUN O'CONNOR

Born and raised in the deep south of New Zealand, Arun O’Connor has been heavily involved in the local music scene for the past 17 years mostly performing as a session musician and musical director for established international country artists such as Jody Direen, Kayla Mahon, Susanne Prentice, Tom Sharplin and The Heartleys as well as fronting for local cover and tribute bands.

O’Connor has fast garnered a reputation as one of the most talented musicians to work with in New Zealand and with a voice that will stop you in your tracks.

O’Connor took out the 2018 NZ Gold Guitar Awards Senior Overall Award which gave him the opportunity to record his first single “Following The Line” in Nashville with producer Jay Tooke. The song hit #2 on the NZ iTunes Country Charts and #11 on the Official NZ Music NZ Hot Singles Charts

This was followed by his next single “Let Go Of My Heart” which went to #1 on the NZ iTunes Country Charts.

Following the global pandemic O’Connor started writing songs to put towards his debut album “Songs From The Reading Room” which has so far produced it’s first single “Too Far Gone” and his first music video which has amassed over 50,000 plays in a month on YouTube.

Also released in late February 2022 was O’Connors second single from the album, “Star Of Your Own Show”

LACHIE HAYES

“Probably the South Island's greatest, pound for pound, singer and songwriter” - Adam McGrath (The Eastern). Lachie Hayes is a Southland born musician based in the Catlins, who plays a style of alternative folk infused country and blues inspired by friends, drinks, old movies, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and Robert Johnson. From childhood on a Catlins hill country sheep farm Lachie has learnt to play music of many varieties and has performed most of his life in bands, duos and as a solo artist across New Zealand educating himself in multiple styles, genres, and eras of music and developing a style of his own.
 

Hayes released an E.P in late 2017 entitled Where the Shadows Hang and in 2018 was awarded Southland Entertainer of the year, at the Southland entertainment awards, he also won Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.

 

He has performed alongside such artists as Don McGlashan, The Warratahs, Annah Mac, Thomas Oliver, Adam McGrath, Julia Deans, Paul Ubana Jones, Jenny Mitchell and more.

JENNY HARRAWAY

Raised in the small North Otago town of Kurow, Jenny Harraway is a veteran of the New Zealand country music scene and spent her early years playing shows around NZ and Australia.

Jenny’s sound taps in to a wide range of musical influences, with a true smokey tone that will captivate you & a natural rhythm that will get you on your feet for a fun filled action packed set.
