Making It Happen – Become a Trustee for the New Zealand Country Music Festival Trust

 

The New Zealand Country Music Festival Trust was formed in June 2019.  The Trust’s vision is that Gore is the home of a high-quality New Zealand Country Music Festival that is internationally recognised and provides an economic and social return.  The Festival brand is Tussock Country – New Zealand’s Country Music Festival.

The purpose of the Trust is

  • To plan, finance and co-ordinate the New Zealand Country Music Festival

  • To promote and market the New Zealand Country Music Festival for the enjoyment of Southland residents, domestic and overseas visitors.

  • To work co-operatively with, encourage and support any group which may wish to volunteer its efforts in establish or running a country music focus event as part of the festival.

  • Where appropriate provide centralised database and information management.

  • Provide professional support and mentoring for associated festival groups and volunteers.

  • To research, restore, preserve and promote the attributes of Country Music as and where possible.

 

The Trust is seeking to appoint additional trustees and invite applications from candidates with proven governance experience across a range of sectors.

 

  • Private sector governance

  • Music industry governance

  • Experience with economic development agencies

  • Experience with financial management

  • Experience within the event management industry including sponsorship

  • Tourism and product development

  • Volunteer sector and community capacity building

 

Out-of-the-region applications are welcome and will be considered.

The Trustee role is a volunteer position. The board of trustees meets a minimum of eight times a year.
