Everyone’s got a little bit of country music in their soul. Kiwis `give it a go’ nature and love of music is what Freeze Ya Bits Off Busking is all about.

Buskers take to the streets to sing and play tunes from their favourite country genre, lured by two $1000 prizes and a total prize pool of more than $3000.

Strolling the streets to soak up the buskers’ home-grown talents is as entertaining as entering the competition yourself, or with friends, to sing or play a country song or two.

The event kicks off with a schools' busking competition on Thursday, before buskers of any age strut their stuff in the town centre on Friday and Saturday.

Some real talent emerges - the top 10 acts perform at a finals event where prize winners are announced. The finals are staged with the weather in mind: a rugged-up crowd warmed by outdoor heaters and cosy comfort food. It’s all part of the `street party’ atmosphere.”
